MAHACURE PROGRAM

The goal of the MahaCure program is to inform individuals the causes of various illnesses so that they are not only able to deal with illnesses and get the right help and support, but are able to prevent them.

Many people in rural areas across the world die at the hands of easily preventable illnesses. These issues primarily arise due to a lack of proper nutrition, or exposure to pathogens, toxins, hazardous fumes and even drug abuse. To make matters worse, people are often unaware on how to obtain help, and in the process of getting help, are exposed to extortion and exploitation as they try to save themselves and their loved ones. With proper health education, several maladies can be avoided, and precious lives of the near and dear people can be saved.

Preventive health education is not just the need of rural India, however. Urban India too suffers from lack of understanding of the body, and is also victim of a whole slew of bad health decisions. Poor diet and drug abuse are just a few of the many problems faced by urban India, but are easily reversed problems if we intervene in time. The goal of the MahaCure program is to inform individuals the causes of various illnesses so that they are not only able to deal with illnesses and get the right help and support, but are able to prevent them.

Initiatives:
a) Production of pamphlets, brochures, and posters for health and nutritional awareness.
b) Build online awareness among urban populations about needs and short-comings in rural areas.
c) Presentations in rural areas about basic hygiene and nutrition habits, and the outcomes of a lack of them.
d) Collaborate with local health organizations to distribute much needed medicine and nutritional supplements in villages, as well as offering free medical check-ups at camps.

Achievements
In the 2014-2015 year, MahaBodh Foundation was able to reach out to and provide preventive health education to more than a thousand people. We also held the first adolescent health awareness events in Gaya City and Guraru (in Bihar). With the help and support of partnering doctors, we also organized monthly free health checkups and education events. Learn more about our partnering doctors here.
